Apathetic Way to Be

(Wow, banging my head on this keyboard is so much softer than the desktop computer.)
Anyways.
Sometimes you just have to take it out on the alphabet instead of real flesh-and-fears homo sapiens, because criminal records would hit the terabyte level. But sometimes people make me so MAD that I want to shriek, “GET OFF YOUR LAZY burros AND DO SOMETHING!”...

I’d use it on myself to be a better comfort in my friends’ times of need. I’ll say it here: I hate drama. First instinct when I see tears or screaming people or objects thrown in violent emotion: run and pretend it’s all good, that this is completely normal, and that I’m not totally uncomfortable. It’s hard, yes. Wrong jokes at wrong times, yes. I’m just...

It’s weird because… sometimes I feel like people just want me to be someone who I’m not. They have this idea of me and I turn out to be someone entirely different from who they thought I was, and they are unhappy with me. It becomes more draining than upsetting. I write a lot, think a lot, and…

I am a nice person, overall. No, I am definitely a nice person. I get down sometimes, down on myself, down about how the world is, but I am also really easy to make happy. I was really happy about my coffee, just a couple minutes ago… the kind of happy that I think most adults have forgot how to…

I cannot speak in other writers’ names, but for me, writing is very much an aesthetic activity like composing or painting or directing. Because you are creating something that will influence people; you’re releasing these ideas like little melodies, and you are changing the makeup of the world. So…

I think it is so brave to say everything you mean. I don’t say half of the things I wish I could, and even still I wish I would shut up. I talk too much I think, and I am afraid that I might say something that would make someone dislike me, or even worse, that would hurt someone’s feelings. But I…

Sleeping Through the Storm
When it comes to “fight or flight”, I’m all flight. It’s kind of embarrassing to say, but that’s all me. I’d rather skirt the conflict than run in with my fists swinging, hoping that I’ll get a good wallop somehow. I’d be one of those woodland animals that are equipped to camouflage to hide from predators like a stupid butterfly instead of a black...
Little Me
Tonight we watched a home video that I haven’t seen in a long time. Somehow or other at the dinner table we started talking about our pre-school teachers and Mom got the box of home videos to see if she could find some of those old memories. Instead we found the one where the Chu family (only four of us back then) went to Disneyland with AK on Memorial Day weekend, 1995. I was two years old...

"You Have Nice Arms! You Have Nice Arms!"
Who could ask for a better evening of epic awesomeness?! And I mean EPIC AWESOMENESS! *scream*
Well, if Kawika/David was there too it would have been oh maybe 50% better, but then I would probably faint and that would subtract another 45%. So it’s fine. =)

Fiction’s such a blessing yet a curse. It’s hard to decide which one overrules the other, especially when you’re reading a great book and wondering at the same time why it can never, ever happen. I guess Sarah, Jordan, and I haven’t realized it yet, because we were shouting for the Halberd to come get us at the upstairs window. Kids. :P

We escape into other people’s lives, celebrities, artists, or fictional characters, through movies, songs, paintings, and photographs. Because we don’t find ourselves so interesting and we want something else… but our most secret hope is that someone else will find us interesting and will want to escape into our lives.

And the breezy voice of Kenny Choi is to blame. What else could be responsible for the deviation from my 5+ page Bible paper on worldviews? (Don’t answer that.) But yes. Music is the ultimate distraction. Which can be both a good thing and a bad thing, as I come to think of it. Good, in that it covers that annoying background buzz of the fluorescent lightbulb with some rhythmic beats and...
